男孩團體在80年代晚期到2000年初稱霸了西洋樂壇, 在全球創造了驚人的銷售及巡迴演出的成績. 接著便陸續由其他的音樂型態及藝人接掌西洋樂壇：pop-punk、hip-hop，一直到現在，西洋樂壇成為由Lady Gaga、Nicki Minaj、Katy Perry等女藝人的天下。隨著男孩團體時代的結束，過去那些"男孩"也陸續向其他領域發展(98 Degrees的Nick Lachey演出實境節目、N'Sync的Justin Timberlake目前也跨足電影)或者等待時機宣布重組。
